A Colorful Conversation from the Past.Today I was a bit pressed for time, so I tried to settle using All 9 Solfeggio Frequencies - Healing Power of Music & Ancient Tones Therapy in 90 Minutes and then put the word out that I have time for a short conversation with someone — anyone fit the bill? Into my field of view flew a beautiful red, blue, and gold macaw parrot. He confidently landed on a weathered tree branch facing me and waited, as if he just knew he was supposed to be there. Ahh. I get it. I asked for anyone fitting the "bill" and got that literally — someone with a bill! Except I got more. "Do you remember me?" asked the parrot. "Many years ago, you saved my life."
The entire story came back to me in an instant, like it was packaged just for me. He was referring to my three-month backpacking trip through Peru, Bolivia, and the Amazon about 25 years ago. My two brothers and I were trekking through the waterways and jungles, with natives as our guides, on our way to see some ancient petroglyphs rumored to exist deep in the rain forest. On the way, our guides spotted a flock of macaws high in a tree and immediately thought "dinner" as they unsheathed their bows and arrows. As a vegetarian and animal lover, this idea was unimaginable, so we implored them to reconsider. Our translator told them it would be too upsetting to us. We were relieved they complied. This was one of the birds we had saved! Not knowing if this really could be true — a visit from a bird 25 years in my past — I Googled macaw lifespans and sure enough, they can live to 50 years, so this was entirely possible. "I'm grateful to have lived this long. It's a jungle out there, you know!" he quipped. "But seriously, we appreciate what you did. We have lived every moment since to the fullest." "What kinds of things have you done?" I wondered. "We have witnessed and been part of lots of growth and life expansion. Yes, growing human settlements, but mostly growth in the natural world. Living among the living as we do, we are able to see life moving forward in ways people in cities cannot. "We notice if there are new flowers blossoming on that tree or if those seeds are sprouting new life or when the fruits begin ripening. Nothing goes unnoticed; everything represents growth and change and is a celebration for us." "I loved my time in your homeland and have always wanted to return," I admitted. "I can still picture myself there; still hear the distinct bird calls at certain times of the day." <smiles a knowing and endearing smile> "How is it that you found me again? How could you hear my request to talk to someone when you are across the earth in a whole different world?" "At the moment those hunters relented and heeded your request, you became a turning point in my life — the reason for the extension of my life. Is that not an important role? And one not easily forgotten? Our paths crossed in an important way. You felt it, too. How else would it all have come back to you in a neat little package, as you say? It was waiting in your subconscious, this indelible event. "Now that you are beginning to 'hear,' I simply accepted your invitation to speak; to reinvigorate our longtime connection." I thought how amazing that is! "Do you still live in the same place?" I asked. "Yes, this area of forest is my home. There are more humans who visit than before, and I have moved around quite a bit, but we are protected here. It is the experience I wanted in this life. "You are thinking — doubting still — that this experience of talking to me is all in your mind. That your ego has made it up, patting you on the back for your good deed. "When you read this conversation back, you will know differently. It isn't something you just make up. Yes, it's in your mind. It's in my mind, too. Naturally." "What can I do to develop this skill further?" I thought, who better to ask than a master? "Talk more — in your mind. Now, most of the talking in your mind is in the form of thoughts to yourself. Do more talking to those living beings around you. They will begin talking back in time, as your mind switches from disbelief to intuitive knowing. I can help you practice any time." "Thank you!" That sounded like a great offer to me. But at this moment, my mind was getting antsy to start the rest of my day and he sensed this and said his goodbyes. "Be in touch. Gotta get to the salt lick before those little buggers take everything," he remarked with a grin, knowing I'd understand. I smiled, having witnessed their morning ritual of supplementing their diet with salt and minerals from the cliffs along the river — first the small birds in early morning, then working up to the larger birds — the macaws — later on. He flew off, leaving me feeling still a bit amazed and grateful for this virtual meeting after all these years. "Ain't but a minute!" I hear far off from the direction this wonderful macaw flew.
