I keep reading and hearing how important it is to get centered in your heart, not your head, to make animal communication a success. Psychic or intuitive information apparently doesn't stem from the mind, but rather the heartspace. Trying to receive information through the mind will always be tricky because it is filled with thoughts and processes that tend to distort things. On the other hand, receiving through the heart, or higher mind as it is sometimes called, is tapping into universal energy, which connects all of life. What does this all mean? It sounds good on the surface. And everyone sure seems to like it because it's repeated everywhere. But does everyone understand it? As soon as you actively try to switch from your mind to your heart, you are still using your mind to try and keep yourself there. Doesn't your mind work hand-in-hand with your heart, feeding it information, taking orders, translating emotions? I do understand a little about "the higher mind," though. Sometimes, I get more in "the zone" when having a conversation with an animal. It's a little like day dreaming, where you are still aware of things around you, but your focus shifts to something just below the surface. In that state, thoughts and conversations flow more easily, more freely. It does feel a bit like your mind has taken a back seat and something else is in charge — something that knows how easy this can be.
Gina Rudan, author of Practical Genius, says listening to others from the heart doesn’t only mean listening to words; it means listening to their energy, emotions, and body language. It’s a kind of heart-to-heart listening that elevates the experience of conversation. This makes sense to me because it tends to be my approach to animal (and human) communication. I do a lot of listening. Instead of trying to fill the space and time with chatter, or going in with an agenda and list of questions, I let the other side show me who they are. Maybe this is why I get a lot of "knowings" in my conversations with animals. I just suddenly know context, background, emotions, intent, meanings without their having to say it. It's not only efficient communication, but really cool! A recent post in the Speak! blog covered shifting from active to receptive listening and I think that is basically the same thing as heart listening. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
