When I tap into Lila's energy, I feel a fiery whirlwind of spirit, despite her age. This is not her physical self. It's her spiritual self, her soul. It has not aged a bit during this lifetime and simply is with her, driving her life. She is excited, enthusiastic, happy, exuberant, strong, and full of life. Some part of her wanted me to experience that and contrast it with her physical energy. When I shift to her physical energy and body, I hear creaking like an old wooden ship at sea. The energy is not quite as high. The mobility isn't there. She is finding her body — her vessel — no longer can do the things she wants it to do, even though inside she is still wanting and willing to do those things. But she still feels content about it all. She is not sad or frustrated. Her spirit is still happy and enthusiastic. What a great attitude! I sit down in front of her at her level and she comes over gently and is happy to see me, to have the visit. "You have such a great attitude about everything, Lila." I said. "Even when things are obviously more difficult for you now, you act as if nothing has changed." "Well, plenty has changed," she said. "Plenty always changes. It's what life is all about. Who doesn't know that going into it? The trick is to remember that as you live life — and I have. I have set my expectations to simply enjoy and appreciate what comes to me in any moment." I feel her bright, warm, happy energy glowing from her. "How is it that you are able to keep this attitude with you so much of the time, Lila?" I asked. "Most of us easily forget in the many moments that distract us or sweep us away in the energy." "I don't remember in every moment, but in many. And when I remember, and act accordingly, it helps others around me remember… that it is possible, that they have in them too, that they can look at things differently." Lila is calm, confident. I asked if she wanted to talk about anything in particular. She said, "No, this is just for you. Another time, perhaps. But for now, we focus on your advancement, awareness, well-being. Give it some time. Let it sink in. Your spirit shines just as bright as you think mine does." So I sat there with her for a bit, thinking, being, and knowing we would connect another time for perhaps a different conversation. For now, I was good with this one. Thank you, Lila! Feedback from her person: That is a good description of Lila. I feel that she wanted to share it because she misses being physically able to be that dog. She’s still amazing now but was incredible when she settled in with us and bounced around with tail wagging and all smiles. I cried deeply after reading this because it was so accurate and she’s so easy to love. A part of me has always been sad at the thought that Lila sometimes isn’t seen for the amazing dog she is, they only see the frightened anxious dog barking to protect her people. She really is an awesome dog. ☺ Lila’s soul really does shine bright and I’m so glad you got to see her for who she really is. I can understand her not sharing about herself openly, as she enjoys her independence and feeling that she’s in control of any needs.
