I had several conversations with Lyric. I started with topics and questions her person provided. These are my notes: Personality: Happy, excited, smart, sensitive, a little scared sometimes because of her size. She comes in to say, ”Don’t write that — I’m brave.” Me: "But I got the impression that you were a little frightened sometimes." Lyric: "That’s because I don’t always know when to be brave. If I knew, then I could be brave anytime." Me: "Do you have a job?" Lyric: "To keep everyone at home safe." Me: "Do you feel brave when you’re doing that?" Lyric: "Of course, I’m good at my job." When I connected at a different time, I also wrote down my impression that she was a little scared. She came in again to correct me saying, “I’m not scared. We covered that already!” She’s very sweet with good intentions. She likes to busy herself to show how committed and capable she is. She needs to feel needed and important, but she feels it’s a lot to keep up with. She needs to know she can take some time off and not have to be “on” all the time. She wants to maintain the illusion that she has it all together. Another time I asked her about her job. She says, "Well, they didn’t actually give me a job, but I’m here to protect them." The feeling I get is that she is acting busy with this job all the time to boost her sense of importance and to hide any nervousness. Physical: I see silver coloring on her chest area? Family: I feel a strong female presence in home. As far as who else lives there, a mom, dad, and three girls? Or a boy and a girl? I also see an older woman with silver hair walking along a beach. I hear the name “Sayers.” I see lots of pink roses. Does Lyric sleep in one of the girls’ beds? I asked her, "How did you come to be where you are?" She answered, "A friend of the family had a litter and after I was born, I went to live with my new family. I do miss playing with my siblings, but now I play with the black cat sometimes. I hear the name Bitsy or Blacky? "I like to chase the ball indoors and bark. I like the kitchen; sometimes people drop food. I like the sofa because I can see more things and can look out the window. I like those little hot dog treats. I like table food. I don’t sense any health issues. Does she have any stories? Lyric: "One time I went to the park." Me: "And…?" Lyric: "And what?" Me: "Well, what did you do there?" Lyric: "Everything!" Lyric has good memories of some event or picnic or party where there was watermelon. Her food: soft, dry, red. I also hear, “Chuck Wagon.” She said she was once a Bull Mastiff in another life and she likes borrowing a bit of that personality now. My recommendation: Perhaps be clear with Lyric about her job and make it clear that she doesn’t have to take on so much and that you will love her even if she is just a dog sitting there enjoying your company.
