I spoke with Sage a couple of times a few months ago. He was battling a serious illness, but his people were hopeful with some new therapies they were trying. In the end, Sage decided it was time to move on. His person wasn't able to connect with him telepathically after that, as many in that situation find it is too emotional and close to the heart. So I decided to try to connect, check in on him, and see how he was doing on this next leg of his journey. When I connected, he came up to me gently, sniffed my face, licked me, and I hugged him. "This is nice," he said. "I miss physical things." He shows me being able to interact with the other animals at home, eating cheese, sniffing things, being involved in such a deep way in his home life. He felt a little sad about this loss. But it wasn't really sadness, more like wanting or anticipating something that you once had or appreciated and would like to experience again. I wondered if he had regrets about leaving. He tells me, "Now I have a front row seat to it all. I can watch and stay tuned into everything. I have a freedom that is unmatched. I flow from here to there with ease. I feel no pain, no stress, no trauma, no weight, no burdens. Just joy and I wish it for everyone. From there (on Earth), I can see the perspective of endings. From here, I see a different perspective, that it is all ongoing, one big story that intertwines in a most beautiful way. Perfection. I can still want to experience other things, like life on Earth and all it brings, but that experience is simply an extension of what we all are, what we all are doing and being and becoming. From this vantage, there are no regrets. Just love and joy and peace." I could feel what Sage was describing and there was absolutely no sadness or longing or pain. It just wasn't part of the experience. It was simply like stepping into the next room. You don't suddenly miss the person you left there, as you know they are just a room away and it's just a few steps until you can see them again. I wondered why Sage had to leave so early in life, so I asked. "It was the plan," he answered. I waited until something else came in, like an explanation. I thought maybe there was a lesson he had to learn or to teach or it was to help his person in some way, as is often the case. But as I focused on this and waited, the feeling drifted further and further away and no explanation came forth. And then finally, Sage said: "There's not always a grand reason. (my person) and I go back eons. I simply wanted to be a part of her life in this iteration, at least for a while. We knew it would be a short 'pop-in' and then I'd be on to other things. But we got to share some really good times and I got to see her progress in this life, where she lives, what she is doing, how she is getting on. That's it. Nothing more grand than that. But in a way, that, too, is grand, isn't it? To be able to check in on a dear friend; to experience a snippet of her life with her… the joys, the sorrows, the delights, the emotions, the memories. Yes, that is grand. And we will be back together again in no time." Then his voice went to a whisper as if he were telling me a secret, and he said, "And really, we are already together — here, in nonphysical. It's just that knowing this kind of breaks the spell of reality for those still on Earth, immersed in that world. So we keep these concepts separate. But here, from base camp, everyone is here, always. We then choose to break off into little excursions, sending part of ourselves here or there for fun, adventure, and advancement. But all the while, we never really leave. So the sadness and loss and despair people feel in physical is only there — and it stays there where it belongs, where it was created and serves its perfect purpose to enhance the physical experience." At this point, he looked back over his shoulder to a soul kind of observing from the background, not wanting to come forth to break the magic of this moment. He acknowledged this soul with a big wink and knowing, like they were both in on a big secret, and said to the soul, "Isn't that right?" he addressed his person's soul or nonphysical persona. She had been there the whole time and stepped forth to show that they really are there together and always will be and that this physical life that Sage was just a part of, is just a small part of this experience. It was all matter-of-fact, normal. It felt like I was being shown the universe's little secret — a behind-the-scenes look at how it really works. "Any messages for your person here on Earth?" I asked Sage. He looked to his person's soul next to him and they giggled at this, knowing it was just a dress-up game. But then he got serious, also knowing that his person on Earth was feeling real feelings, hurts, disappointments, everything that is available to feel while in physical. So he addressed the person next to him and the person on Earth at the same time, with such an outpouring of love and affection: "My fellow soul, everlasting friend through the ages, eternal flame in my heart, here we are on yet another journey together — really, just a new branch of one long, never-ending journey — and I know it is so very difficult in the moment for the one left behind to care for the emotions and feelings left unhinged by what feels like an ending. But know that is is truly not an ending. I am just in the other room, mere steps away, and we will be reunited — in fact, already are (looks to the soul next to him) — to continue our adventure together. You are doing wonderfully well in your life. The doubts, the perceived failures, the thoughts of not being good enough or not doing enough or not being enough, are all inlaid onto your life on purpose. Yes, given to you as a prop, to enable you to live this drama to its fullest. But know you are so much more. An absolute success, a star, a perfect being who is doing wonders, even with all the handicaps of physical life. If you could see what you call your flaws from my point of view, you would know they are merely tools, not things to be ashamed of or to try to bury or destroy. But to use them to move you forward and outward in any which way you wish. You are perfect — and you will realize this once more in due time." He again looked at soul next to him with a knowing grin, as if he were just discussing inside information. I feel his great appreciation for his time with his person on Earth. He treasures it. It went exactly as planned; as they both knew it would, as it couldn't have gone awry in any way, anyway. "I'm here, watching you, watching over you, admiring your handiwork, and looking forward to the time you also can look back and see the magic that we created here together."
