One of the exercises in a book on animal communication I was reading suggested to "become the animal" and feel how that feels. Here are my impressions as a Dachshund:
Everything is big. "Watch out!" Looking up all the time is hard. I'm not allowed in the bedroom (feel the door shut in my face). I have my own bed. My family is nice. I understand what they say because they speak with pictures. I like being in control. If I go on the bed, they take me up and down. Dry dog food is boring. I like meat and bologna and pastrami. I get full quickly so I only eat a little at a time. I don't mind the crate. It's safe. I like to go places. I like our yard and the squirrels. I don't like the vet. They don't understand me. I'm afraid of bigger dogs so I have to act bigger right away. Other small dogs are weird and hyper. I like to walk but my family doesn't take me out much.
