I usually try to use photos with just a single animal in them. But this one had two. I wondered how that would work or who I should even start talking with first. In the end, I simply asked: "Who wants to talk first? " "ME!" asserted Tabitha, the cat on top. "Why?" I asked She replied, "I’m the best choice. He’s (Gin) good for other things. (she reminds me of their photo, in which she is using him as a pillow). I wasn't sure I liked this attitude, so I told her, "I tend to like talking with animals who are nicer." She wasn't deterred. "It’s not a matter of nice or not. We’re cats. We’re in a different CATegory." Despite this interaction, I felt she had a softer side and she confirmed it, “I can be softer.” "I notice that you use Gin as a pillow in your photos. Does he ever use you that way?" I wondered. "We have an agreement (that he is the pillow). I have to be more alert. On watch. So I get the 'top bunk.' " "Do you like helping “mum” out with communication?" I asked. "Oh yes, it’s quite interesting. Why are YOU here?" she said, as if suddenly noticing my presence. "I’m helping and practicing," I replied. I usually begin by introducing myself, but I guess I forgot this time. She thinks about this and then takes a closer look. "Yes, I think I’ve seen you here before." Because there were two cats in the photo, I had originally mixed their names up and thought I was talking with Gin. After realizing this, I switched the pictures in my head and some tension went away. I wondered why Tabitha didn’t tell me I was getting her name/gender wrong and she gave a sly smile and said "It’s all part of the art of keeping people on their toes. We pull the strings." At this point, Gin looked up and sort of sighed and said, “She talks WAY too much. You can ignore most of what she is saying.” To which Tabitha replied: "I won’t be ignored, YOU know that." Feedback from their person:Note to self: next time swallow the coffee before reading your email. You’ve gotten both Tabitha and Gin to a tee! Tabitha is quite sweet.
